It certainly is the "edge of wildness" but well worth the effort. Accommodation is luxurious and the service is first class. Any horse lover will be in their element, and those like me, that don't ride can enjoy the ultimate relaxing vacation.

The Best in the World
This absolutely the best hotel I've stayed with, no wonder it is rated to be among The Best in The World. The property, views, experience, service are just beyond exceptional.
It was absolutely The Best at every aspect of it.
Every moment, every experience was very unique at its emotions, quality and authenticity.
I never had such amazing, high quality service as from every member of Nihi staff. Absolutely the best from the moment you land to Indonedsia (though we arrived a week before our arrival to Nihi, the staff helped us to go through express arrival clearance) until you depart Sumba.
I highly recommend this hotel.

It was a fabulous vacation at Nihi Sumba! The setting is like something out of a fairytale book, a white sandy beach with horses! The staff was incredibly accommodating, everyone knew our names. The room was spacious, the view fantastic. The food was culinary unique on an island!

The resort's commitment to preserving the local heritage and giving back to the Sumbanese community is nothing short of outstanding and deeply evident in every aspect of its operations. From the moment you arrive, you are immersed in an authentic and untouched environment. The wild, untamed beauty of Sumba is unlike anywhere else, and the resort has done an incredible job of blending luxury with respect for its surroundings. Efforts to protect and celebrate the unique culture of the Sumbanese people are woven into the guest experience, from interactions with the locals to the craftsmanship showcased throughout the property. The philanthropic efforts, particularly through the Sumba Foundation, are heartwarming and impactful. Great services from the airport all the way to the hotel. Everything were taken care of from checkin to hotel. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were free (included) so you don't have to worry. The room is clean and very nice. We love the plunge pool. Room service is 2-times a day. Any room service request was handled within minutes. Just the best experience ever.

simply wonderful. The location is unique, the service exceptional and all the experiences fabulous. Seeing the horses run on the beach or taking a bath with them is brutal.Even if you are not a surfer, it is a highly recommended hotel. For surfers it is already the best.

Everything about the experience was exceptional—the stunning rooms, breathtaking beach, delicious food, and outstanding service. However, I was genuinely pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere of the hotel. The staff was incredibly friendly, and I believe this positive environment contributes significantly to the relaxed and laid-back vibe that makes the stay even more enjoyable. The excursion to Lapopu Waterfall was a highlight as well. I’ve seen many waterfalls in my life, but this one was truly spectacular. We were fortunate enough to be the only visitors there, along with another couple from the hotel. Additionally, I found the concept of the spa safari to be magical and unforgettable.
